Parkwood Weddings

Your ceremony or photography will be set amid the magnificent landscape of breathtaking panoramas and formal gardens of unusual beauty.

Whether your event will be large or intimate, there are many locations on the beautiful grounds to accommodate your needs.

Wedding Services

Steeped with over a century of history and natural beauty, there is no better place to renew your vows or say “I Do” and begin the next chapter of forever, than Parkwood National Historic Site.  Surrounded by lush gardens and architectural landscaping there are several picturesque spaces on the grounds and inside the mansion for you to choose from.  You may choose to exchange your vows in the beautiful Sunken Garden or in the stunning Formal Garden in front of the fountains. The Italian Gardens located outside of the Greenhouses or the Japanese Garden in the newly restored Greenhouse is perfect for more intimate gatherings.  You may also choose to immerse yourself in stunning history as you exchange vows inside the mansion in our Sunroom & Loggia.

 Photography

The magnificent grounds and heritage gardens of Parkwood Estate as well as elegant surroundings of the main floor rooms in the Mansion offer the perfect location for photography.

Please note that alcohol is not permitted with photography permits, there is no smoking on the premises and drones are not permitted due to our proximity to the Oshawa airport.

 

Photography Permit Form

Outdoor Photography $275 + HST

Favoured by professional photographers throughout the region, our grounds are attractive in any season. The estate is beautiful with or without flowers and features an abundance of mature evergreens, architectural elements and statuary that combine to create the perfect backdrop for exquisite photographs.

Groups of up to 20 persons may schedule a photo session on the grounds, advance registration is required. We regret that we cannot offer an indoor alternative for photography in the event of inclement weather.

Indoor Photography $375 + HST

The elegant surroundings of the main floor rooms in the mansion provide a lavish and unique setting for photography. The Sunroom & Loggia, Drawing Room, Cantilever Staircase and Orchid Greenhouse are areas available for 1 hour of photography for up to 10 people maximum.  (Please note due to extreme temperatures the Orchid Greenhouse is not available for photos from June 1 – August 31)

Your indoor reservation also allows you full access to the outdoor photography areas for an additional hour. The exception to this is the winter months when the grounds are closed and deemed unsafe. All passes include photos in front of the mansion all year long, snow permitting.

Photography sessions inside the Parkwood mansion are unavailable during certain times in July and August.

Corporate & Social Events

Parkwood National Historic Site is the perfect place to host your meeting, wedding ceremony or special event. The remarkable 11-acre gardens offer the ideal setting for beautiful photos, providing both a strong architectural backdrop and an exuberant heritage garden experience. Popular ceremony locations include the Sunken Garden / Japanese Pagoda with green, park-bench seating for up to 125 guests, the Formal Garden accommodates up to 100 guests, while the South Lawn or Tennis Court can accommodate up to 150 guests (with chair rentals). More intimate ceremonies can take place in many other stunning settings within the 11-acre Heritage Garden.

The Sunroom and Logia provide an excellent indoor option. Entertain like the social elite in the opulence and elegance of Parkwood Estate atmosphere. With room for 100 seated guests or 125 standing, this area may be licensed by Special Occasion Permit. Booking and vendor selection including Catering is arranged through selected referrals to maintain the highest standards in this Museum space.       Availability

      Time and date requested are subject to availability and scheduling. Your booking will only be firm after confirmation from the Photo Pass Coordinator

      Important Policies

      Payment

      Payment is due prior to the permit date, unless otherwise arranged.

      Weather Policy

      Permits are rain or shine. No refunds or date changes are allowed due to weather. If a weather-related change is necessary, please notify us at least 5 days before your reserved date.

      Time Restrictions

      The photo permit window is 2 hours total, including arrival and departure.

      Access and Space

      The permit does not grant exclusive use of Parkwood National Historic Site. Other events or permits may be taking place on the same day. Groups must share the 11-acre grounds, including but not limited to, the formal gardens, reflecting pools, and grounds.

      Parking

      On-site parking is limited and not guaranteed. Parking is restricted to designated areas only.

      Restrictions

      • No Smoking: Smoking is prohibited on the property.

      • No Drones: Drones of any size are not permitted, due to the proximity of the Oshawa Airport.

      • No Videography: Due to copyrights currently in place, videography is not permitted inside the Mansion.

      • Photography Restrictions: Photography is restricted in certain areas of the Mansion. Our Photo Pass Coordinator will advise upon arrival.

      • Setup and Displays: We cannot confirm setups or displays in specific grounds areas in advance.

      • Prohibited Items: Candles, smoke bombs, fireworks, and pyrotechnics are strictly prohibited.

      • Arrival Policy: Arriving 30 minutes past the scheduled time will result in the cancellation of your reservation.

      • Furniture and Features: Museum furniture may not be moved or used for seating. Antique garden features may not be fully functional or guaranteed.

      • Alcohol: Alcohol is not permitted on the premises.

      • Transfer Policy: Photo passes are non-refundable but may be transferred to a new date with proper notice and cause.

      Please ensure that your photography team is aware of these terms and conditions.
