Welcome Back!
We are ready when you are, and are excited to welcome you back to Parkwood after a temporary closure to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. As an organization we have spent considerable time evaluating and exploring all options regarding how we can welcome you back safely.
In accordance with Stage 1 of Ontario’s reopening plan, effective Tuesday June 15, 2021, we will be executing a multiphase approach to our reopening, beginning with the grounds, our Gift Shop and the Tea House outdoor restaurant. We are unable to resume mansion tours until Step 3, which is estimated to happen around July 25, 2021.
To ensure a safe environment for our guests and our team, some of the initial safety measures will include; a limitation on the number of visitors on the grounds, in the Gift Shop and at Tea House outdoor patio. (Step 1 allows 4 people per table unless you reside at the same household) Most interactions between guests and staff will have a presence of 2 metres (six feet) or more to ensure physical distancing and we have increased areas where guest can sanitize and wash their hands.
For the health and safety of visitors, volunteers and Parkwood Staff, and in accordance with health and safety best practices we require the use of face masks while inside the Gift Shop and when on any guided tours (mansion, basement, statue, & garden tours). Don’t worry, if you forget your face covering or if you do not own one, we will have one-time use disposable masks available for a suggested donation of $1.00 in the Parkwood Gift Shop.
*Face Coverings are not required for children under the age of 3 or those with respiratory challenges.
We have been paying close attention and have implemented a variety of other safety measures that follow the directives of the Province of Ontario and Public Health Ontario. These steps are necessary to maintain a healthy environment for everyone as we work to carefully ensure everyone has the safest and best possible experience while at Parkwood.
We will continue to monitor changing situations closely and will do our best to be in communication regularly. We appreciate your flexibility and patience as we navigate this unprecedented circumstance together and we thank you for your continued support of Parkwood. Please follow our social media channels or refer to our website for ongoing communications. Stay Safe,
Laura Mountjoy, Executive Director
